The Lairds first performed together at a Burns’ Night dinner-dance in 2007 (2012 marks their sixth rebooking at the same annual event), although they are all friends who had often encountered each other in other bands during their long careers. They came together with a simple premise:
to play their favourite music the way they want to, Here is a list of the kind of entertainments the Lairds have been booked for: Wedding receptions They choose dances from England, Scotland, Ireland and North America. The musicians play melodeon, banjo, guitar and fiddle. The core of three musicians can be contracted or expanded to suit the venue and budget. Other instruments could include a bass, a second fiddle, mandolin, banjo, flute and/or percussion. A band of two musicians (fiddle and accordion or fiddle and guitar) and a caller can be very effective for a smaller venue or a small party – and it's also great value for money!
